Look what I got in the mail today!

GORGEOUS surprises x2 in the mail today!

I got back from the city after being at the Nate Show all morning (lots of fun was had!) to find two lovely parcels in my mailbox. So excited to get pressies, I opened them to find lovely gorgeous hand-made gifts.

Above is the lovely postcard sent to me by Ros as part of The Great big postcard Swap. Thank you Ros! Ros put a lovely quote on the back by Bessie Stanley:

"He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much"

Then surprise No 2 came in the form of something I mentioned in my e-course and keep every night to invite abundance into my life...The lovely Jenny Blair from Love and Peas Creations, who took my "Big Dreams, Small Wonders" class in January, sent me a hand-made abundance journal with the most heart-felt thank you note for her experience in the class.

I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Thank you Jenny. Xx

    Thank you, thank you!

Jenny wrote the loveliest note to me and the sentence below made me tear up and remember the fundamental reason I poured my heart and soul into creating the "Big Dreams, Small Wonders" class in the first place. I cant wait for the Spring session to start where I hope to make even just a small difference to the lives of those attending.

"....you truly have no idea the joy that fills my heart and gratitude that some-one else believes in me too..."

I have a lot to be grateful for and write in my new abundance journal tonight. Xx

Interview: Regina Lord from Creative Kismet

     1) Regina, it’s almost a year since we first met at Artfest, it was so lovely to meet you and continue with our virtual blog world! How important is it to you to connect with a creative tribe in person?
There is so much more of a deep, personal connection in person. It can be difficult to share a really good dialog via computer and so much emotion is lost. In person you get to see that person in action and feel, see and understand what they are communicating. I love, love, love connecting to crafty people online as much as I can, but in my dream world, I’d also love to meet every single blog buddy of mine in person too. That would be so much fun!

    2) Tell us a little about your life a year ago today?
One year ago I was starting to become introduced to various e-courses and realizing what my dreams were and what I wanted. I was working as a staff nurse 24- 36 hours per week (12 hours shifts) and feeling pretty tossed around in the ever changing and chaotic health care paradigm. I was looking at ways to change or at least decrease my hours so that I could spend more time being creative.

    3) As you were embarking on this creative journey, how did you feel?
It’s frightening to work so hard on your dreams with a family to care for. On one hand, you want to follow your dreams and be happy, on the other hand, my family comes first. So I am more cautious, having to step slowly, but upwards towards my dreams.

    4) What are some of your accomplishments you celebrated for 2010 or the past year?
One of my biggest accomplishments was decreasing my work hours to ‘per diem’ status, which means I have more control over my schedule. I am also working as a lactation consultant only, which is so much less stressful. When I go home from work, I still have enough energy to focus on my family and creative dreams. Because of this I was able to submit work to various publications and was published in 4 different magazines.
Regina's Vision Board from the "Big Dreams, Small Wonders" e-course

    5) What are your top three goals for 2011/2012?
My goals for this year are to further decrease my work hours and work on getting more of my art out out there in the world. I’d love to write a creative book, teach at Artfest (or other artsy venue), and have a booth at an arts and craft fair.

    6) Tell us a little about your fabulous tutorials you offer on your blog, which is your favorite? One of my favorite things to do is teach. I love sharing what I know. I teach to new moms and dads about baby stuff at the hospital I work at, and it is such a joy. I see my tutorials the same way. I love sharing projects with my readers. The absolute best is getting positive feedback that I helped someone make something! One of my favorites is the paperbag booklet.

    7) Where do you see yourself this time next year?
I see myself continuing to grow Creative Kismet and continuing to grow myself as an artist and teacher. I can envision myself teaching art classes and surrounding myself with other creative dreamers.

    8) How has the e-course "Big Dreams, Small Wonders" helped you in planning this next step in your creative journey?
The "Big Dreams, Small Wonders" e-course was wonderful because it provided me great tools to continue working on my creative dreams. I am not the most organized person, so it was helpful to get myself a little more on track with what I wanted for myself and my business. The class provided me with loads of fun projects for making lists, diagrams and vission boards. These helped me tons with getting a clear view of what I need to focus on. It is so nice to have your vision board hanging on the wall as a wonderful reminder of your dreams. Learning to see your true potential, and believe in yourself is exactly what the creative dreamer needs.

Regina's Big Dreams, Small Wonders Journal and affirmation tree from the class.

    9) What is your dream for your creative business?
My biggest dream for my creative business is to be able to rely on my art financially. I’d start a brick and mortar business where I sell my art and teach art, sewing and various creative classes. My shop would have a big couch and a huge shelf with inspiring creative books for people to hang out and read. I would have an enormous table in the middle where I teach. On the walls would hang art for sale, made by my students. And I would offer free classes to underprivileged children and teens who need a creative outlet.

    10) What or who inspires you?
I am very much inspired by my children. Many times, what I make stems from a request from them. I am also inspired by the sun and the infusion of Mexican culture where I live. Geninne Zlatkis, Misty Mawn and Elsa Mora provide me with loads of artistic and creative inspiration as well.

    11) What else do you like to create?
I love to sew, and am currently trying to sew more clothes for myself. I also love to cook and have always been interested in photography.

Thank you so much Regina. Connect with Regina here:

Interview: Jennifer Lee & The Right Brain Business Plan

Last December I had the privilege of interviewing the lovely Jennifer Lee from Artizen coaching about "Unfolding her life's Vision" and upcoming Book. Her book "The Right Brain Business Plan" is now out and I'm so happy to have Jenn back on "Dream-Inspire-Create"

    1) Jenn, huge congratulations on the publication of your book. Can you tell us a little about the book and who would benefit from it?
Thanks, Louise. The Right-Brain Business Plan guides you through a fun, visual, and accessible process for completing all the standard sections of a business plan. The book includes colorful, illustrated play sheets, creative exercises, full-color photos of featured Right-Brain Business Plans, and success stories of fellow right-brain entrepreneurs. The book is for budding and seasoned business owners including artists, crafters, writers, photographers, coaches, consultants, therapists, yoga teachers, massage therapists, holistic health counselors, non-profit leaders, educators, and any creative soul wanting to turn their passion into profit.

    2) How long would you say it took from the time you had the idea to publication?

I made my first Right-Brain Business Plan in November 2007 at my kitchen table during Art Every Day Month. I had no idea then that this idea it would turn into a book! I created my 9-page handwritten and illustrated e-book in the spring of 2008. And in 2009 I set out to write a book (a totally different one!), but publishers were more interested in The Right-Brain Business Plan concept so I sent out proposals for that and landed my book deal with New World Library in the fall of 2009. My manuscript was due to my publisher in April 2010 and then it went into production and was published in February 2011. So, long story short, it took a little more than three years to go from initial idea to book on bookshelf.

    3) What right brain tools did you use to develop your ideas and the plan for the book?
I used many of the right-brain tools that I talk about in the book! I used a Levenger Circa notebook to organize all of my existing material by chapter before I even started writing. That made it easier to know I wasn’t starting from scratch and it already started to “feel” like a book. I used mind-maps and sticky notes to brainstorm and outline content for chapters. I also used my sticky note project plan to map out my tasks and milestones throughout the publishing process.

    4) What do you think are the biggest challenges for right brainers in business? And how to overcome them?
One that I see is that many right-brainers in business can overlook the financial aspects of business. I encourage people to acknowledge that the numbers can actually be a pretty creative process. You can use your imagination to come up with new, innovative income streams. And you can always get support from an expert to help you figure out the nitty gritty calculations to make sure you’re going to turn a profit.

I’d say the other is not trusting themselves enough. They tend to keep thinking they need more information or training, when really they just need to take some action, find clients, and make offers.

    5) I thoroughly enjoyed the video summit that you offered *free* from 28th Feb – 11 March, were you nervous about hosting the summit? If so, what were some of your daily practices to calm your nerves or to give you an energy boost?
Thanks! It was a joy to host it. Sure, there were certainly times I was scared or worried. I don’t know if I was nervous, per se. I shared during the summit that I had a couple of nightmares leading up to the first day. It was stuff around me being attacked in various ways because I did really feel like I was sticking my neck out trying this new thing.

Before the first session I filled out an Affirmations card from my forthcoming RBBP Kit. I wrote out empowering statements that helped me to ground, focus, and trust that I had everything I needed to lead a great event.

    6) What is your favorite right brain booster and left brain chill pill?
It’s hard to pick one, but a favorite right-brain booster is to gain a fresh perspective using images. I also have my collaged values cards on an easel on my desk and that helps me focus my energy for the week.

My favorite left-brain chill pill is to acknowledge my accomplishments when I’m beating myself about all the things I haven’t finished yet.

    7) If people missed the summit, what are some of the ways we can find out more or get involved?
If you missed the live summit, you can still learn from all the fabulous guest presenters and even take part in a vibrant community of creative souls. Just visit http://www.rightbrainersinbusiness.com to find out about the Booster and Premium levels.

    8) And finally, what is your Dream for your business?
My dream is to continue making a positive difference in people’s lives, to inspire authentic expression and creativity, to keep having fun, to receive the abundance that comes from doing my calling, to write more books, to make more products and cool stuff, to invite in more opportunities beyond my wildest imagination, to be a leader in creative entrepreneurship, to take regular vacations, and so much more!

    9) Who or what Inspires you
Creative people living their dreams, nature, beauty.

    10) What else do you like to create?
I enjoy making huge wall-sized intuitive paintings and my latest creative obsession is taking photos on my iPhone with Instagram.

Thanks again Jenn and wishing you every success with the book and helping more right brainers create their business plans!

My Dream Board for March & the Super Full Moon

This month is the Super Full Moon and here is my dream board inviting new possibilities in.

Can you feel it? Many are saying that because this is the closest the moon has been to the earth for so long, it is causing much of the unbalance we are seeing in the world. This is why its so important to be sending positive thoughts and energy back out there.

Tonight is the Full Moon in all it's glory. It really does feel like such a powerful pull on all of us doesn't it?

If you haven't done so already, have a go at creating your own Dream Board, use the power of the full moon to invite all that you wish and dream of into your life.  Post a link to it below (on your blog or in flickr group pool here)

It you don't have time to join in this month, the next time to create your Dream Board will be Between the New Moon (April 3rd) and posting on the Full Moon (April 17th). Mark your calendars and invite your dreams in.

Happy Spring Equinox tomorrow! What are you doing to celebrate?

Opening Your Heart to Your Dream Life

My Plaster "postcard" for the Great Big Post Card Swap (by Beth Nicholls)
currently on it's own journey to Sweden

A few years ago, working in the corporate world, chugging along on my day to day schedule, just "existing", in my window-less office, I had no idea of The Dream Life that awaited me, the one I was going to go and get for myself. A life of flexibility, creativity, kinship and being contented: Dreaming, Inspiring and Creating. When I think back, I did have an open heart, but being on the wrong path for me, wasn't enabling it to be fully open, unable to fully invite in all the real things life had to offer.

I opened my heart to creativity, new possibilities and wow am I so glad I woke up, faced my fears and believed in myself. It's almost a year since I made that all important decision.
The face to face coaching program session (read about the start of this new journey here), this past weekend, completely opened me up to even more possibilities, the possibility of living the next stage of my Dream Life and re-inforcing to me how we are all connected and how energy plays such an important part in how we see the world and navigate through it. I am so excited to be able to open myself up and help others. Coaching is all about empowering others to go from where they are now, to where they want to be.
As many of you know, I am a strong believer in the power of the universe, how our positive thoughts and actions put out good energy, attracting good energy back.  (Some call it the Law of Attraction) and these past few years of synchronicity, serendipity, "aha" moments and continuous "coincidences" is the universe talking back - or I will actually say It's me finally listening to the messages its sending me.

I am also inviting you to combine positive collective consciousness to send good energy over to Japan as they continue to struggle through the recent tragic events and start to face the aftermath. The world needs Love and Open Hearts more than ever.

We create our own world, I see that now,
    more than ever.
I am so excited to be opening up the Spring Session of "Big Dream, Small Wonders". The new 6 week program includes exercises and creative challenges to help us open up and find our way as well as creating a personalized roadmap to our Dream Life.
(Registration opens today with a special price for my readers and subscribers here)

What do you think? How does the universe guide you along your path?
Do you wish you had a roadmap to take you to your Dream Life.
What does your Dream Life look like?
If someone asked you, could you describe it?

What I Wish For You - Trust Your Gifts

Last October, I wrote a very heartfelt post about "Putting it out there and self belief" I wrote about how I doubted myself and the universe gave me a second chance. That, the second chance, enabled me to overcome the doubt and send my artwork in anyway! My artwork then got chosen to be included in Patt Digh's new book "What I Wish For You: Simple Wisdom for a Happy Life
Well.... yesterday, I looked it up on amazon again (I've been checking every so often for a publishing date) when I saw the image above!

    HUGE SQUEALS!

One of my accepted pieces of artwork is on the cover of the book.

Original artwork: "Tranquility Garden". Large prints available here
Being published was one of my Dreams last year, that I am also manifesting for this year. I am so happy to have been published on Design*Sponge (Jan 2011) and now on Patti's new book (April 2011). I cannot begin to express how grateful I feel for all your support, encouragement and to the universe for showing me, prodding me to trust. Trust in my gifts to share with the world. So this is What I Wish For YOU..........

What I Wish For You.... is to TRUST Yourself,
    Your Gifts, Your Talent.

Everyone has something amazing to share. Today, squash the inner voices that may be doubting, fearful, negative and take the first step towards something you have been longing to reach for.

My Wish for you is that you overcome any fears and doubts, that no matter what happens, how scared you may feel, imagine what you can accomplish if you just take a shot.

Registration for the Spring session of "Big Dreams, Small Wonders" is open.

Sssshhhh, I'm not telling the world until after Thursday as there is a special offer for my readers and newsletter subscribers first.  I've extended the program to 6 weeks of tools, techniques, inspiration, creativeness, audio meditations/messages, energy balances (from Energy Kinesiologist-Diane Gellatly) and video content.
It really is YOUR TIME to live the life you were born to live. I've not even been out of my corporate job a year and I'm so excited to be
living my dream and for whats to come next.

Click here for the special rate of only $79 (valid until end of day Sunday March 20th)
Class begins on Monday April 11th.

Interview: Michelle Ward - When I grow Up Coach

Today's interview is with the lovely funky Michelle Ward the When I Grow Up Coach

    1) For those who do not know much about life coaching, can you briefly explain the key concepts?
Sure! I know - life coaching is still a new field, and I think a lot of people are under the impression that we tell people what to do. But it's absolutely the total complete opposite! As a life coach, I believe that my client is the expert in their own life, as they know themselves better than anyone! So I show up with my listening ears (as my hero, Judge Judy, often says), some "clarifying questions" to help the client dig deep into what they want and see how they could get there, accountability, my pom-poms and action plans we decide on together. I like to use the Road Trip analogy, with my client in the driver's seat literally getting us from Point A to Point B, but me in the passenger seat with the traffic report, a map, and the GPS - reminding them there's a pothole off Exit 3 they always land in or working with them to avoid the traffic jam on Route 10. Hopefully this is making sense. If not, I blame the red wine!

    2) Tell us a little about the moment you realized you wanted to be a life coach?
Ohmygosh, I wish I could, but it's tough for me to remember! It wasn't a lightning-bolt moment - I don't even know how it first came into my brain. All I know is that, when I signed up for a career change workshop at NYU, I went into it with life coaching in my noggin, but absolutely resisting it. It was entrepreneurial and I wanted something "stable with benefits" (I was sick of being an actor, after all!). I also bought into the life coaching stereotype that they're all crystal-reading hippies, which I certainly am not. I mean, there's nothing wrong with that - I just didn't want people to think that's who I was! It was a big concern of mine, actually. But the more I went through the career change exercises, touching on my skills and values and whatnot, I realized there's a reason that I'm always drawn to working from myself, and that it would rock my socks to be the person I needed at that time in my life - a non-hippy-dippy creative who helps other creatives through their career transitions. It just made sense, and I realized how passionate and exciting it could be for me. It was huge, because I was pretty pessimistic - even though I was determined! - that I could find something I could love as much as performing. But when I did, well, anything else would be unacceptable.

    3) I love your name “when I grow up coach?” How did this name come to be?
Oh, I tortured myself! I knew I was gonna be working with creatives through their career transitions, so I knew I needed something fun and playful (that was absolutely also part of my business model). I used the line, "I don't know what I wanna be when I grow up!" often when I was trying to figure out what I was gonna do post-acting career, and it never failed to get a laugh or a smile or a reaction. I knew people got it, and that it was the tone I wanted. I think that might've been the first name I came up with, but I still tortured myself coming up with others - Sing Out, Louise! Coaching, With a Cherry on Top, The Chutzpah Coach. Thankfully none of 'em stuck, because I can't imagine not being The When I Grow Up Coach!

    4) I’m working towards my coaching certificate this year, like many others out here, What advice would you give newbies starting out in their coaching career?
Geez Louise Louise, please make it fun. There are so many niches and so many ways to market yourself - there is not one right way or one wrong to do it. Just find the products, the services, the marketing means that really excite you, that totally light you up, that absolutely enthuse you - that's your path. Also, Geez Louise Louise times twelve, please don't think that everyone out there knows more than you do. They don't. Not to say there aren't people to learn from, but pick 'em carefully. I remember signing up for, oh, every single email list/free ebook I came across when I first started, and within a week I was drowning (drowning!) in emails and stacks of reports about PR and newsletter and stuff that I thought I needed. Um, I didn't. After a few weeks (it took me a while to own my own knowledge), I unsubscribed from everyone's newsletter that I didn't click with. If their personality didn't do it for me, or their content wasn't aligned with my mission, then out it went. Same with all those reports I printed. I knew more than I gave myself credit for, and when I realized I didn't I consulted the people I knew, liked and trusted - whether they were people I "knew" from online or off.

    5) How do you think your passion and studies in acting has helped you in your creative coaching?
Well, as an actor you're taught that listening to your partner is the most important skill. It's not about waiting to say your next line - it's about really, truly hearing what your partner is telling you and then reacting naturally, truthfully, from a real place. "Power listening", as we call it in the coaching biz, is absolutely the most important piece, I think. That followed by being curious and inquisitive, which I think is instinctual for actors. We approach roles like we're solving a puzzle, asking questions and trying to find the answers as to what makes that character tick. Asking strong, clarifying questions is another huge piece of being a coach (honestly, if I did nothing but listen and ask questions, I'd still be an amazeballs coach - maybe even better than I am now!), and I often refer to my clients goals as pieces of the puzzle that we have to find, put together, and step back from to see the big picture. That, and just the fact that I am creative and I've "been there, done that", so to say. I love that my clients know my back story and see that I've lived through the heartache of giving up my dream, drudging through Corporate America, and coming through to other side a pretty together, happy, alive-and-kickin' Woman of The World, as I like to call my entrepreneurial self.

    6) What is your biggest challenge with coaching and how do you overcome it?
Shutting my trap! Seriously, I'm always impressed by how little I talk during my sessions based on how much I talk in real life. And while I'm uncomfortable with silence "in real life", I treasure it in my coaching...because it usually means the client's thinking, digging, discovering. If I talk 40% or less over the course of a session, I know it's a good session.

    7) Congratulations on making the leap to run your own business. What advice would you give to others who dream about taking this leap themselves?
I think the same thing I wrote for the new coaches. Trust yourself. Only listen to the people who speak to you. And don't be afraid to put you out there. That's where the connections are on the client end, and that's your branding. I call it your uniquity, and once you articulate it, you can put it on everything.

    8) I know you love to make up your own words, what’s your favorite?
Amazeballs! For sure. Although I didn't make it up - I stole it from a hilarious friend of mine. So I guess "uniquity" would be my favorite word that I made up!
    9) Congratulations on your “The Declaration of You” e-course with Jessica Swift, what is the single biggest reason people should sign up?
If you don't know what it is you want, if you don't know who you really are as an adult and what makes you tick, if you think your life has been taken over by The Shoulds and what society is expecting of you, then...how can you live a passionate life? How can you ever be happy? It's really the first step to all that lovely hippy-dippyness.

    And Finally:

    10) What is your Dream for your creative business?
Man oh man - it changes day to day. Recently, it's being a TV host, although it's not fleshed out and I don't really know how/why. But I'd love to be a coach, an author, a workshop facilitator, and a speaker. But without my head exploding. I'm still figuring it out :)

    11) What or who Inspires you the most?
My husband. He's my rock and supports me a trillion percent, and without him...well, I just don't think I'd be here, talking to you. He inspires me, and the life we wanna create for ourselves inspires me, too.

    12) What kind of things do you like to create?
It's funny, because since I've gotten away from performing regularly I don't really know! I really found my way back to writing - that's my #1 creative outlet at this point. I loved creating the host of The Declaration of You, Pierre François Frédéric, with my partner-in-crime, Jess Swift. I love making iMovies and I still love singing. I'm toying with art journaling, although I've never been a visual artist so that's super scary. I also signed up for a screenprinting class, so who knows?! Oh! And I just wrote a workbook based on my career change exercises, and I rewrote all the existing exercises so that the entire book rhymes. All 50 pages. I'm a nut.

Thanks so much Michelle, so energizing and fun reading your responses. Connect with Michelle below:

Happy International Womens Day & Interview: Juliette Crane - Painting Owls

Wishing all my fellow creative souls and wonderful women in my life a Happy 100 Anniversary for International Women's Day. How lovely that today I am posting an interview with a fellow woman who is making things happen for herself.

    You can do it too.

Today's Interview is with the lovely Juliette Crane.

    1) Juliette, it was so fabulous to finally meet you in person at An Artful Journey and spend time with you after our online connections. What did you get out of time spent at An Artful Journey in the Los Gatos mountains?
It was so fabulous to meet you, Louise! And to finally see in-person everyone that I’ve connected with in the online world this past year! That was the most amazing part for me! It was just so sweet to finally sit and enjoy a glass of wine with everyone!

    2) How important is it to connect with an artful tribe in person?
It’s huge! I didn’t even realize it until some of the lovely ladies I know through blogging came in and as soon as I saw their faces it was like family! I couldn’t wait to give them all a hug! And it wasn’t even so much that we had these amazing conversations (which we did, of course) but just being able to make that in-person connection seemed to meld a gap in my heart.

    3) Tell us a little about your life a year ago today?
A year ago today I was just getting my paintings out into the world. I started to get my etsy shop going (I think I had 4 sales, and only 1 from someone I didn’t know). I was making cards from a few of the paintings I had and really feeling stressed about whether or not my art would be noticed by anyone in the world at all. I had also just finished an online art business class with illustrator Stephanie fizer coleman, which pushed me to get on facebook and start blogging. And from there, it really didn’t take long (lots of hopping from blog to blog) to find that like-minding people were blogging too…and so many were creating beautiful artwork!

    4) As you were embarking on this creative journey, how did you feel?
I felt so overwhelmed with fear and anxiety. It’s so hard when you’re embarking on anything new. Even if someone else has been through it before, for me, I always question if I’ll succeed. I’m trying to be a little nicer to myself about this after realizing there’s a pattern here.

    5) What are some of your accomplishments you celebrated for 2010 or the past year?
So much that I never would have expected! I started teaching in-person painting workshops, made a lot of connections with artists locally and online, had my artwork published in Somerset Studio and my blog featured in Artful Blogging, participated in our local open art studios event, got my artwork into local boutiques, and had lots of local art shows!

    6) I know a goal from last year was to run “in person workshops” in your local town, how have they been going?
They are so fun! After I submitted my work to Somerset Studio, they asked me to write an article on how I paint my owl pieces. After breaking down the process for the article, I had others ask me about my process and I realized it would be a fun thing to teach. At about the same time, I contacted a local boutique about having some of my prints in their shop and when I went to drop them off, the owner mentioned she had a workshop space too. I told her the idea for my How To Paint An Owl Workshops and we scheduled a class for that very next month! I was so nervous at first! But now a few classes later, and I cannot believe how lucky I am to be able to share my owl painting process step by step and see all of the amazing, and completely unique owls everyone creates!

    7) What are your top three goals for 2011/2012?
Last year I had so many goals, that this year, I’ve limited them to exactly that…three. And they’re pretty big. The first goal is to really enjoy my everyday (seems like last year just flew by). Second, is to expand on my art teaching. I have a few more in-person workshops scheduled in Wisconsin and I’d like to teach them in other parts of the world too. Then, the biggest thing I’ve been putting my heart into, is turning those in-person workshops into a 5 Week Private Online Art E-course! And then expanded that e-course into a few others! My third goal for this year is to start licensing my artwork. I’d love to see my paintings on fabric-maybe children’s clothing and beautiful long dresses!

    8) Tell us a little about your upcoming e-course
How To Paint An Owl is a 5 Week Online Art Workshop where we’ll be taking what I teach in my in-person workshops a few steps further. We’ll go through my owl painting process, step by step, each week focusing on a new technique-backgrounds, owls, scene and embellishments. Through a combination of video, text and photos, I’ll be sharing all of the things I’ve learned along the way-how to make each character your own, what supplies work best together, how to make your characters and backgrounds really pop, and how to choose colors. I’ve also been shooting video of lots of paintings from start to finish so that everyone can really see and learn from the evolution.

    9) Where do you see yourself this time next year?
I’d love to be doing all of the painting and teaching I’m doing now and at some point next year be part of an artist residency so I can share with and learn from other artists too!

    10) How has my e-course "Big Dreams, Small Wonders" helped you in planning this next step in your creative journey?
Taking part in BDSW really helped be focus and set my goals for this year (it’s the first time I’ve ever done that for the entire year ahead). And I’ve found that it’s really taken a lot of the stress out of everything. I don’t feel so blinded. In BDSW I not only set the goal, but also a timeline and steps on how to achieve everything, so it doesn’t all feel so big and overwhelming. I also met a lot of others in class with big goals and it’s been nice to feel like we’re all moving and working toward them together.

    11) What is your dream for your creative business?
My dream for my creative business is to be able to focus on the creative side of things-to spend most of my time painting and sharing (either through teaching or showing my work). Soon, I’d love to hire an assistant to help with all of the promotion, scheduling and running my online shop so that I have the energy and openness in my life to let all of these new things in too.

    12) What or who inspires you?
On my way back from an artful journey, I was waiting for my plane in the airport and watching these two, two-year-old girls. It was like they were making friends for the first time-sharing their toys and sandwiches, following one another round and round the chairs. And their parents both said these girls were shy-that they never did anything like this. To me, that moment made my heart soar. I thought, “this is why I do what I do. These two girls are the ones I want to be able to inspire.” Being part of moments like that most inspires me.

    13) What else do you like to create?
I love baking and gardening and throwing dinner parties. Painting is the art I love to create most, but creating things for people to eat or moments for people to enjoy really keeps me happy too.

Thanks Juliette! "How to Paint an Owl e-course" starts on March 28th, cant wait!

    Plaster = My New Love

In heaven, surrounded by new beginnings.

Little did I know when I sat in Stephanie Lee' class that first morning, that my heart would be opened wide. Like I had come home.

That first morning, we were all like sponges, watching, listening and inspiration surrounding us.

It brought me back to my art school days of wire & wax scultpure.

Then another memory at university, when I made models and molds for my ceramics.
It brought me back, to realize how much I love this stuff!

After lunch when we were let loose to try everything out, It was like an overflow of ideas....my hands didn't stop, one after another I made dishes, plaques, a boat bowl, inspiration tree.

A creative prayer had been answered, my calling, my medium, my friend. I tried everything Stephanie had shown us on that first morning and for the next 2 1/2 days I was in plaster bliss.

    Here are just a few....
Plaster bowl with a leaf molding. *Love*

Quite simply, plaster, wax with engraving and raw umber paint

My "Boat" dish made from cardboard, plaster, wax + mark making.

Stephanie said this was her favorite.
I love how the plaster and wax look like a creamy marble.

A selection of my burlap & plaster pieces.

Of course! I just had to make a tree. An inspiration tree.

Made from carved foam, wire, plaster wrap and lots of love.

"Mediation Tree" plaque. Hand-made from cardboard, plaster wrap and acrylic paint.

Here's a small selection together at the Show and Tell.
When I got home after An Artful Journey and a wonderful trip on the Big Sur, I jumped straight into finishing my new art series with some plaster and wax added! Some of my beloved plaster pieces are now hanging in my solo show for March in NYC. (more on my show soon)

Are there any new techniques or mediums you have fallen in love with lately?

Etsy HQ: More Behind the Scenes

Following on my post a few weeks ago, here is another sneaky peeky behind the scenes at Etsy.

There is so much inspiration on the wall and on employees desks, no wonder it has a great vibe when you walk into Etsy's HQ in Brooklyn, New York.

Here are just some of the lovely sights you would see if you stepped foot behind the curtain.

Pipes on the ceiling all snugly warm with some knit!

    Funky floor sculptures!

"Time for Tea" lamp sculptures (*love*)

    Employee "lab coats"
DID YOU KNOW? Every new employee at Etsy gets a "Lab Coat" to hand decorate or silk screen print with their very own design. Each new employee also gets $100 to spend on Etsy.com
    How FABULOUS is that!

With all the inspiration, free shopping, funky surroundings and creativity, no wonder someone chose to print "I Love Etsy.com"
What words or images would you put on your own "Lab Coat"
