I'm in the Fish Bowl!

Today saw the kick off to the exciting e-course with an artist I have been admiring and following for a few months. Marisa Haedike "In the Fish Bowl - Life as an Artist". Being in the UK this week for my brothers wedding, i logged on later than the 100+global participants to listen to the pre-recorded podcast...and wow what a lovely intro to what is going to be an exciting 6 weeks I feel. Marisa did a great job of 'setting the intention' for the next 6 weeks. This reminded me of the night class I took with my friend Diane in January about setting intentions so i smiled as again I saw the connections and linkages to not just intentions for my art, but life in general. The course also provides an online forum to meet and chat with the other participants who are from around the globe so im sooo excited about meeting, chatting and continuing to build my community of creatives. I have already had 2 lovely comments from two of my fellow artists.

"What do i love about what I create?", "What am i working on when i lose all sense of time?", "What does success look like?", "How am i genuninely feeling about myself"? These are just some of the questions Marisa asked us to contemplate for our first week. Questions that we could all think about, reflect upon and relate to, to help us begin to re-evaluate our own lives.

Creativity in the Woods!

Happy Autumn everyone, loving this weather and am so excited for all the gorgeous colours we will be seeing in the coming months. What a fab start to the fall to spend Labor day weekend upstate in a country cottage with the girls in the Catskills away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Yoga, wine, chat and walks were on the agenda and we soaked up the beautiful silence and woodland scenery.

On Saturday, we had our own version of Kelly Rae's lovebomb and after spending an inspiring day in Woodstock, we sat on the veranda, drinking wine and being artistic.

In preparation for the Hoboken Music & Arts fair end of September, Hob-art gave me a pile of tote bags to paint on which will be sold at the fair…so I thought it would be a fab idea to bring along on the weekend and for us girlies to take one each to decorate. We had a great time painting, chatting and drinking wine….here are the finished bags. 

The weekend was a perfect restbite, relaxing in the woods. I was inspired to think about alternative living arrangements and living a more authentic life... creative juices flowed and friendships were enhanced, it was wonderful!

First Solo Show!

Wow exciting....I have my first solo show in December! I scoped out the bank at lunchtime yesterday with Andrea from Hob-Art. The bank displays art from local artists on a two month rotation and I'm scheduled in! I'm a little nervous but I think its going to be fab having art on show over the holiday season....sooooo I'll be putting together up to 15 pieces of work!

Here's another im currently working on (yes its not quite finished so a sneak peak!).... I'm experimenting using the natural curves of the wood to emphasize the beauty of the medium so more to come.
